One of the most iconic places of Liguria when not of all Italy is Portofino. The former fishing village is located within a dreamlike bay at the southern tip of the Tigullio Gulf bay. Surrounded by the azure blue sea and olive trees you will find pastel-colored houses, the little port and on top of a hill the Castello Brown. Over the years the idyllic place became an international jet set destination and is subject to the masterpiece “Love in Portofino” by Dalida

When searching for a place to study Italian at, I discovered the picturesque Ligurian town Sestri Levante. The town is overshadowed by known nearby sites such as the Cinque Terre or Portofino but is in no way inferior to them. Especially its colorful old town located on a peninsula, with the Bay of Silence on one side and the Fairy Tale Bay on the other side, make this place so particular.

S2 – E3 – Italian Road Trip Day 3 – Infiorata in Montefiascone & Bolsena
by hageriniby hageriniOur plan was to visit the two charming towns Montefiascone and Bolsensa at the lake Bolsena, a lake of volcanic origin. By accident, we stepped into one of the most important holy festivities the “Corpus Domini” also called “Infiorata”. In both towns the locals decorated their streets with long flower carpets in which later a religious procession took place. It was absolutely fascinating with how much passionate work the inhabitants are preparing and celebrating this christian solemnity.
